The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) closed lower on the day, with both benchmark indices posting modest losses amid subdued investor activity.
The All-Share Price Index (ASPI) declined 0.32% to close at 21,313.92, while the S&P SL20 Index fell 0.14% to 5,994.33. Year-to-date, the ASPI remains 5.79% lower, while the S&P SL20 has declined 2.65%.
Market sentiment remained negative, with 131 stocks declining against 62 gainers.
Dialog Axiata PLC, Aitken Spence PLC, and LOLC Holdings PLC were among the main contributors to the ASPI’s movement.
Market turnover amounted to Rs. 1.55 billion, significantly below the year-to-date daily average of Rs. 3.87 billion, reflecting muted trading activity.
The day’s turnover was led by John Keells Holdings PLC, Sampath Bank PLC, and Lanka IOC PLC, while the Capital Goods, Banking, and Energy sectors accounted for the highest trading activity.
